14 2008 – September – No. 60
HISTORICAL SNIPPETS By Una Lonergan and Beryl Green
This is a photograph of the wedding reception group of Jessie Philips and Ralph Gradidge, in 1952, outside the old Village Hall. On Saturday, September 20th, North Baddesley is
celebrating the 60th anniversary of its new purpose-built Village Hall of
1948. It was the first village hall in England to be built after the last
war. This replaced the corrugated iron barn, known as the Red Hut, in
Nutburn Road, which was used for many years for local dances and social
activities. The present building in Botley Road was opened in 1991. North Baddesley Historical Society The BBQ in July was much enjoyed by members and friends. There was a display and digital projection of recently acquired photographs. Next meeting: September 15th at Baptist Church Hall, 7.30pm for 8pm start. We will also be mounting a display of photographs of the Village Halls at the September 20th celebration. Contact Una 023 8073 0045
