musculoskeletal and head injuries. In the evening we played some
Halloween games including apple bobbing, doughnutting and the chocolate
game; we were also treated to some magic tricks before settling down to
watch a DVD whilst munching on cheese on toast! On Sunday each group
prepared some presentations on medical conditions, which they then
delivered to everyone else - some even acted out the conditions whilst
the first aider demonstrated the treatment. In the afternoon, the Scouts
completed bases where they worked in pairs to treat simulated
casualties. They had to diagnose and treat a partial thickness burn, a
severe bleed and a spinal injury, before filling in an accident report
and arranging aftercare for the casualty. The Scouts did incredibly well and took on a lot of
information over the weekend. They gained some important skills and
achieved their Stage 5 Emergency Aid Badge as well as the British Red
Cross Youth First Aid Module 2 Award. Thank you to Paul Bourne for
organising such an excellent course, and all the leaders and peer
educators for making the weekend such a huge success. Christmas Lights: Members of North Baddesley
Scout group have been joining forces with other groups from Romsey
District Scouts to help install the Christmas Lights in Romsey Town
Centre each Saturday morning from late October through November. We’re
all now looking forward (with crossed fingers) to the switch on
alongside the winter carnival on the 26 November. Remembrance Day: This year’s parade took place on
Sunday 13 November with the parade up to St John’s Church following a
service at All Saints’ Church. Thanks to everyone who turned out in full
uniform in respect of such a poignant occasion. Fund raising Thanks to our Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers we now
have fab new cooking equipment (already tried and tested) plus more
