Quite a Year!

I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe how quickly this year has passed. As usual we have kept the Brownies busy with a varied program.

The girls started this year by doing a choice of three badges, the Artist, Toymaker or Agility Badge, in January.

February found the girls planting trees, which had been given to us by Sainsbury’s, on the Glebe, next to our meeting place, and enrolling some new girls into our pack.

In March we did a special badge to commemorate the Royal Wedding, holding our own Wedding Reception and making a huge card to send to Kate and William.

April was a creative month with crafts for Mothers’ Day and Easter and the girls attended the St George’s Day Parade at Romsey Abbey.

In May we won the District Swimming Gala and spent an evening playing Rounders on Southampton Common.

June saw us doing a Scavenger Hunt around Romsey and a Nature Walk around a local wood, with a wildlife warden.

Our Pack Holiday was in July at Ferny Crofts in the New Forest and saw the girls try archery and tree climbing, with full supervision of course. The end of term was marked by a Beach Party that had to be held indoors because of the bad weather!

In September we had four new girls join our pack, so we had an evening of games aimed at helping the girls to get to know each other. This was followed, in October, by another Enrolment Evening and after that, working for the Brownies Skills Badge.

November saw us host a Ladies’ Bingo Evening, for the girls, their mums and sisters, in aid of Children in Need.

Finally in December we will prepare for Christmas with crafts and a party and there you are, the year is gone.
