NORTH BADDESLEY COUNCIL
      MEETINGS RÉSUMÉS

May

Before the start of the Parish Council's Annual Assembly, Councillor Knight presented Una Lonergan with a silver photograph frame containing a photo of the Parishioner of the Year trophy as a permanent memento of her time as Parishioner of the Year 2009. Una also accepted an identical photograph frame on behalf of Beryl Green who could not be present.
The Chairman then announced that the Award for Parishioner of the Year 2010 would be presented to Muriel Webster and he gave a short resume of her background. Mrs Webster, who will be 90 years old this year, has lived in North Baddesley for 41 years and for many of those she ran the Woolshop in Rownhams Road, thereby becoming a very well-known person in the village. She continues to let the window of the shop to the Red Cross and also helps at the mother and toddler group at the Baptist Church, providing them with home-made biscuits.
Wendy Knight stepped forward to present Mrs Webster with a thank you certificate for keeping the Red Cross notice in the window of her shop and with a thank you letter written personally by the new Red Cross Area Director.
Mrs Webster thanked everyone for nominating her and said that she was shocked o receive the award.
The Chairman read out his report and the Borough Councillor's report was read out by the Clerk on behalf of Councillor Alan Dowden who was not present due to illness.
At the AGM Councillor Knight was re-elected as Chairman for the forthcoming year and Councillor E Cosier was re-elected as Vice-Chairman. All the representatives on the various committees remained the same.
Due to a lack of volunteers, there will not be any stalls, only football matches, at the Fun Day on 12th June. The main match will be between the Baddesley Vets and the Bedes Lea football clubs and it is proposed to open up the pavilion kitchen and hold a barbeque.
There have been two sessions of the youth club so far. Twelve children attended the first and six the second.
Councillor Knight confirmed that delays to the installation of the new car park around the pavilion have been caused by complications in the grant application to Viridor. The grant has been successful but the Parish Council has to find 10% which they are not allowed to donate themselves. A grant from a third party has to be found and the Parish Council will be approaching TVBC and HCC for the extra funding.

June

PCSO Nathan Green attended the Parish Council’s June meeting to introduce himself and give an overview from a police perspective of events over the last few months. A Beat Report was distributed and Nathan explained the "cop swap card" project which is designed to make the police more approachable by children. Each officer carries several of his own individual cards which young people can collect and swap. There are 250 different ones available and the scheme, which started in Portsmouth, has been very successful.
