Local People wanted for new service!

If you have a spare room in your home, would like some extra income and want to make a real difference to your community, then Stonham Supported Lodgings would love to hear from you.

Stonham want to support you to support a young person in your home who has no home of their own. This could be due to bereavement, a breakdown in family relationships or just a change in circumstances that has made it difficult for them.

In return for the accommodation and support which is identified and measured on a support plan you will earn £163 per week and know that you are doing something incredibly worthwhile. "You can really make a difference", explains Penny Diver from Stonham. "Being in supported lodgings turns the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of the community around. They are strongly encouraged to attend training/college/employment and learn invaluable life skills from you".

Penny is keen to emphasise that anyone, regardless of their circumstances can get involved. "As long as you have a spare room and the desire to help a young person move forward with their lives then we would love to hear from you".

Stonham have just been asked to extend the service, currently operating in some of Hampshire, to Eastleigh and Test Valley and so they are really keen to recruit householders there. "Our longest serving householder has been doing it for 10 years and had more than a dozen young people placed with her", says Penny. "So whilst the work is challenging at times it must be rewarding!" Young people are usually with you for around nine months although it can vary from a few days to a couple of years.

Stonham will give you plenty of support in the role and organise training and social events.
