BADDESLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

Nutburn Road
North Baddesley
Southampton
SO52 9DZ

Dear Friends,

When Jesus started his work in Galilee he invited twelve disciples to join him. These men came from a variety of backgrounds and included tax collectors, zealots and perhaps most famously fishermen. The Gospel of Matthew tells us that as Jesus walked along the shore of Lake Galilee he met two brothers (Andrew and Peter) who were busy catching fish in the lake with a net. Jesus invited them to join him and the Bible tells us that they left their nets and went with him.

At that stage, Jesus was not concerned with the things we might look for when interviewing people for a job today (eg appearance, education, background) but, in effect, invited them to Come as you are. The Bible tells us that in the following years, these men learnt more and more from Jesus. The most important thing they learnt was that God loves and cares for individuals.

Come as you are is the theme of Back to Church Sunday which this year is being celebrated on Sunday 26th September. Perhaps you have been meaning to visit a local church one Sunday but simply never got round to it. We would like to offer you a special invitation to join us at 11am on Sunday 26th September at the Baptist Church in Nutburn Road. Other churches in the village are also holding special services on Back to Church Sunday so if you cannot join us perhaps one of the other churches would be more convenient.

We hope you will accept this invitation to join us or one of the other churches – you are assured of a warm welcome. If you would like a personal invitation or more information, please do not hesitate to contact me on Southampton 8055 1688.

Yours sincerely,

Revd Keith Hawton, Minister
