65 BADDESLEY BAPTIST CHURCH Nutburn Road North Baddesley Southampton SO52 9DZ
Dear Friends,
Needless to say, the present raises a fair bit of laughter and digging, but of course the plate simply reflects a reality of human nature – most of us have ambitions, aspirations or simply outstanding tasks that we intend to do but never quite get round to. Perhaps you have been meaning to visit a local church one Sunday but simply never got round to it. We would like to offer you a special invitation to join us at 11am on Sunday 28th September 2008. Churches throughout the country will be taking part in what is called Back to Church Sunday and at the Baptist Church we are joining in this event. All are welcome so why not take this opportunity to come along – you are assured of a warm welcome. If you would like a personal invitation or more information, please do not hesitate to contact me on Southampton 8055 1688. One story in the Bible tells how Jesus asked a man called Levi to follow him and learn more about the hope which faith in God can bring. Levi was a tax-collector (for the Roman occupying powers) and was shunned by his fellow residents in Galilee. However, Levi decided to go with Jesus and learn more. Levi was also known as Matthew and he later went on to write an account of Jesus’ life. For Christians, this story illustrates that God cares for everyone (even those shunned by others). If you would like to know more about this loving God, why not take the opportunity to visit one of the local churches to hear more. Perhaps Back to Church Sunday would be a good opportunity to plan a visit. Yours sincerely, Keith Hawton, Pastor
